Why You Should Use a WordPress Theme Framework

Genesis_Framework

For the most part of my blogging career, I had been thinking why everybody cares about using a theme Framework and using a Child theme for making their blogs. I mean, I have been using different WordPress themes since I started blogging in 2007. But I never understood the benefit of using a theme framework until recently.

Here is what happened

As I was using a premium WordPress theme on one of my blogs, and I had done some modifications to it, like the change in fonts, colors etc.

And when the update for that theme was available, I updated the theme and all my customization were lost. It took me almost 6 hours to customize that theme as I am not a pro coder, and all that was lost with just a click of a mouse.

Now, there was one easy solution not to update the theme, but the design it not the only part of a theme why it gets updated. The updates fix security issues and minor bugs from the theme, which justifies the update of a theme but then you can lose all your customization.

I began searching and quickly found that I am not alone, many people have faced this exact problem with updating their themes.

This is why theme frameworks are important.

This was the time I came to know about the important of using a theme framework. That you can update the core parts of your theme without making any changes to the design part of it that stays in the child theme.

I have recently moved all my blogs to Genesis Framework by Studiopress, which is by far the most suitable theme framework for my needs. As I know a bit of coding as well, I really find it helpful how one add or remove a certain functionality from the theme by adding or removing certain codes in functions.php file of a child theme.

The great thing about Genesis is that there are already so many child themes available for it. You will also find many developers building themes using Genesis themes framework which gives you peace of mind that their design is built on a solid and secure theme infrastructure.

Studiopress offers a great package where it offers all its themes for a one time price of $349.95!

You get lifetime support with unlimited theme updates plus all the future themes from Studiopress. There is no developer or single user license as once you purchase it, you can use it on multiple blogs.
