Do you know what Favicon is?
Well, even I don’t know. I mean I don’t know how to define it and I am too lazy to search for it’s definition. But, I know the uses of it and how to create it.
It’s fine not to have a favicon for you site, I mean, sky will not fall on you or your site won’t get banned in Google. But it gives a professional look to your blog. Now I think this is one great reason to have a favicon for you site.

Create a Favicon
Go to this site and upload the image of which you want to favicon. You can use your logo or the first letter of your domain name, you just have to choose something that can be visible to the eyes even if it’s inside a 16×16 square icon. Something that identifies your brand.
Mostly all the WordPress themes have this option to upload a custom favicon, which can be found under theme settings.
In case your theme doesn’t have this functionality, you can upload it to your website using a ftp client. Just like I created my site’s favicon, you can make yours. then upload it to your server by your favorite ftp client. ( I use FileZilla and it’s free).
Upload it in the root, so that it should show when you type www.sitename.com/favicon.ico
Put the above code in the header.php file, which you will find in the edit themes area under Appearance tab in your admin area of WordPress.
that’s it, check your site in the browser, refresh it few times, or use another browser, because it sometimes takes the files stored in the temp folder in your computer.
