7 Way to Tweet More Than 140 Characters

I wrote this post for my Technology Tips blog and it is one of the most popular posts on that website. Twitter is something which is used very actively by bloggers and internet entrepreneurs, so, I decided to republish it here

If you are a Twitter addict, you will be knowing very well that Twitter imposes a 140 character limit on every tweet. This is just too less, not even long as a text message on your phone. What if you want to tweet something more than 140 characters?

Well, if you use TweetDeck, it also has introduces a service to tweet longer than 140 characters, Deck.ly is the link for others to read the longer post and  TweetDeck users can read it right inside the TweetDeck client.

Jumbo Tweet

I came across a few good solutions during my research on this, and I’m going to explain each one to you, well, in parts though. The first is called Jumbo Tweet. Its a website and you need to use this web application to tweet, which is boring.

But anyhow, if you want longer tweet, you need to adjust with the situation. So, first, go to JumboTweet.com and you can sign in with your Twitter account to start using it. Hit the Sign In with Twitter button and you will be taken to the authorization page on Twitter. Hit Allow there and you are good to go.

Now, when the page is redirected to Jumbo Tweet, you will see a big text box, where you can type. Start typing there, anything you want. You can see that there is no counter starting from 140 characters and counting down for every character you type.

If you want to see how much you can type, just scroll down the page and you will be able to see the public tweets from others using the same service, you can see tweets which are almost a page long. So you don’t need to worry about the length, literally.

Once you have finished typing, you can hit the Post JumboTweet button below the text box. There is another option, Public (Show on JumboTweet Feed). You can check this (checked by default), if you want other users of JumboTweet to be able to see your tweet, like you saw when you scrolled down the page.

Once you hit the Post JumboTweet button, you have successfully tweeted the longest tweet on Twitter, you always wanted. There are a few other options, I’ll be explaining them in the future posts. So keep waiting, and keep tweeting.

EZ Tweets

Here is the next solution, ezTweets. You may ask, what’s the use of more than one solution when I’m doing the same everywhere. But, no. Each service has its own options, which vary from one service to another.

So what is extra in this? Well, first, its completely different than Jumbo Tweets. Here, your longer tweets are split into parts and then tweeted, with the part number and total number of parts. For example, if you have a message which is 200 characters long, ezTweets splits it into two, 140 and 60 characters respectively. And the first tweet will have (1/2) in it, while the second will have (2/2) in it. Makes sense, right?

Not only this, you can even post this message to your Facebook account right from within the web client. Isn’t this cool!! Lets see how to do it. Go to ezTweets.com and use the Sign in with Twitter button or the Facebook button, which ever you want, or even both.

Then, the usual Twitter and Facebook authentication will have to be done. Once you are done, you will see the big text box. Writer whatever you want. If you see below the text box, you have more options, like how you want the numbering of your tweets to be and more. You can select the one you want.

Once you are done, hit the Post button, and you are done. Wait for a few more services in the future posts.

Apart from the websites I mentioned above, I tried few other services as well. Got a couple of them and found that these are few other services which you can try to tweet more than 140 characters at a time.
